Pitt River Bridge and Mary Hill Interchange Project

Outcome
The Pitt River Bridge and Mary Hill Interchange Project was completed in 2009, and includes a new seven-lane cable-stayed bridge to replace the existing swing bridges and an interchange to replace the existing Lougheed Highway and Mary Hill Bypass intersection. These improvements allow for the elimination of the current counterflow system.

Kirk & Co. developed strategic public consultation plans to seek informed input by providing opportunities for input through discussions with the public, interest groups and other stakeholders at specific stages. Consultation for the Pitt River Bridge and Mary Hill Interchange Project took place in various settings, including one-on-one and in small-group meetings, open houses and standing committees.

Public Materials
Kirk & Co. prepared discussion guides, feedback forms and display boards, and placed various print advertisements in local and regional newspapers.

Key Milestones
Key milestones include:

  • Open houses and stakeholder meetings to gather input that was used to refine the design process.
