Port Metro Vancouver Container Capacity Improvement Program

Background
The Container Capacity Improvement Program is Port Metro Vancouver’s long-term strategy to deliver projects to meet anticipated growth and demand in container capacity until 2030. The program includes assessing potential efficiency gains throughout Lower Mainland container facilities, with an initial emphasis on investment and infrastructure improvements at Roberts Bank in Delta.

Following improvements at Vanterm and Centerm in 2005, and the completion of the Deltaport Third Berth Project in 2010, Port Metro Vancouver is evaluating additional terminal improvements, including road and rail improvements, at Roberts Bank in Delta.

In addition, Port Metro Vancouver is exploring an additional multi-berth container terminal at Roberts Bank, the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project. The Roberts Bank Terminal 2 project is a proposed multi-berth container terminal which could provide container capacity of more than two million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit containers) per year.

Public Consultation
Kirk & Co. has developed a multi-round consultation process for the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project, which is anticipated to include seven rounds of consultation over several years. Kirk & Co. will produce both print media and web materials for public consultations, including consultation discussion guides and feedback forms, project updates and consultation summary reports.

Community Relations
In addition to public consultation services, Kirk & Co. provides ongoing strategic advice regarding community relations and media relations to Port Metro Vancouver, including managing an inquiry-response program to ensure that the public and stakeholders have access to timely and accurate information.
